[Saginaw, MI] - January 17th, 2025 - Storm Master Exteriors, a premier roofing company in Saginaw, MI, has once again demonstrated its commitment to community and youth development through an exciting new partnership with the Greater Saginaw Amateur Hockey Association (GSAHA). Together, they have launched the Storm Master Hurricane hockey teams - two innovative "Select" teams designed to bridge the gap between "house" and "travel" hockey programs.
This unique initiative is aimed at providing young players the opportunity to develop their skills, experience higher levels of competition, and prepare for potential advancement to travel teams and high school hockey. The partnership, which extends through the 2030 season, reflects Storm Master Exteriors' dedication to nurturing local talent and enhancing the community's hockey culture.
The Storm Master Hurricane teams, comprised of players from Saginaw, Midland, and Bay City, offer a hybrid solution for families and players who want more from their hockey experience. While continuing with their "house" team commitments, players participate in additional "select" practices each week, often on the Spirit ice at the Dow Event Center, with advanced coaching and new competition opportunities.
These teams will compete in three to four tournaments annually, facing off against travel teams from Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois. The initiative provides players a chance to acclimate to the demands of a rigorous hockey schedule, develop advanced skills, and showcase their talent in Storm Master-branded gear, offering a travel-team experience without the full-time commitment.
"Our vision is to close the gap for kids with the talent and drive to excel but who may not yet have the resources or family support to move to travel teams," said Eugene Therrien, owner of Storm Master Exteriors. "The 'select' teams are a stepping stone, helping players grow their skills, prepare for higher-level competition, and ultimately strengthen our local house and travel programs."
Storm Master Exteriors is creating a vibrant community around these teams with Facebook groups for parents to share photos, post tournament results, and celebrate the players’ achievements. The teams will also enjoy access to the Storm Master suite at Saginaw Spirit games, further deepening the connection between the local hockey community and this forward-thinking initiative.
Additionally, Storm Master merchandise will be available on consignment at the rink store, enhancing team spirit and allowing families to show their support for this exciting new program.
This partnership aims to produce tangible results both on and off the ice. By introducing young players to a higher level of competition and fostering development, Storm Master Exteriors and GSAHA hope to see future PeeWee teams competing for state championships and travel teams benefiting from a stronger talent pipeline.
Based in Freeland, Michigan, Storm Master Exteriors specializes in roofing, siding, windows, and gutters. With a history of supporting local sports and community initiatives, the company continues to demonstrate its commitment to making a lasting impact. Through their partnership with GSAHA, Storm Master Exteriors is investing in the future of youth sports and the local hockey community.
